1. Background
As was not surprising, throughout the period when former Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah was in office (between June, 2022 to May, 2023), my appeal pending at the Court of Appeal Registry was stillborn.
By a letter dated 19th October, 2023, I drew the new Chief Justice and Chairperson of the General Legal Council’s attention to my appeal which had then been pending for over a year. I entreated her – as Chairperson of the General Legal Council (the Respondent in the appeal) and as the Chief Justice and head of the Judiciary – to direct the Court of Appeal Registry to set the conditions of appeal and also ensure that the record of the proceedings is prepared and forwarded to the Court of Appeal. I did not receive any reply but the Registrar of the Court of Appeal called and informed me that the Civil Form 2 – Summons to Parties by Registrar to Settle Record – will be delivered to me the next day. As soon as I received the Form 2, I satisfied the conditions set by the Registrar by paying the required sum immediately. That was the last I heard anything about the appeal. It is in a state of comatose.
2. Kwasi Anin Yeboah and his collaborators sued for defamation
On 7th June, 2024, I sued former Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah together with the two individuals (Samuel Awuku Okudzeto, a.k.a Sam Okudzeto, and Irene Charity Larbi) and the General Legal Council for defamation. Copies of the Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim are attached as “Attachment 1.”
3. Conclusion
I wish to thank the many lawyers, judges, clients and people from all walks of life who continue to reach out to me to express their support. I am forever grateful. I will continue to fight this matter to the best of my ability until justice is manifestly seen to be done: Until the illegal trial held by the former Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah and his collaborators is nullified. After all is said and done, never again will public officers entrusted with fleeting statutory power see themselves above the law and act contrary to the very law and Constitution, 1992 that constitute them.
